Church Langton New build

Oak Timber Framed Homes (New Builds) This very simple design is an efficient way of creating new space to the ground floor of your home. You simply “Bolt on” the new structure. Disruption is kept to an absolute minimum if you are adding to an existing building or as here to a new build as all of the work is done at the manufacturing stage in work shops in Tur Langton. The base is simply prepared , all landscaping completed and the aperture made watertight until the assembly date. When we arrive on site the structure that has all ready been assembled in our workshops is very quietly and efficiently placed into position , plumbed and then Pegged. The roof, fascia and barge board etc is then fitted which again has all been assembled in our work shop. The glazing and all joinery items are the last to be fitted. This whole assembly process from start to finish on a project like this would take approximately 5-7 days which is why disruption to the home owner and builder is of an absolute minimum.

Great Glen oak framed building

We are just completing the last touches to this oak framed build in the small village of Great Glen, Leicestershire. With the use of coloured render, oak , glass and simple lines the intention was to create a contemporary villa style dwelling with a relaxed chalet style ambience. Simplicity ,natural light and as many exterior opening doors as possible help create that European feel , letting the inside flow out onto the many terraced areas. The coloured render is a maintenance free material with several years guarantee from stains, degradation and damp impregnation. As soon as the project is complete we intend to feature this project into our case studies.

Stone Barn renovation

The project brief was to re-design the stone buildings that were linked to the main Grade II listed house in the heart of the Welland Valley with an oak frame which would create a larger mid centered dynamic space. The planning authority had some important historical sections to the house that were essential to keep the heritage of the building intact, therefore the design had to be around and including these details. The natural qualities of the sympathetic nature of the oak lent itself to be the material of choice for this project.  The new space that the oak framed structure created, allowed us to remove most of the inner walls which, when flooded with the natural light of the direct glazed south elevation, seemed cavernous.  This was what was needed as there were many rooms and differing functions that we needed to get into this new space. With a new floor space of 150m2 created, this left enough room for all of the functions and rooms.  These consisted of a WC and cloakroom, hallway from the main house including an enlarged opening from the main house into the new area, a formal eating area, a new kitchen including a large breakfast […]

Rectory garage & summer room

This cleverly designed garage & summer room was built in this lovely village in Corby. This historic building is a grade 2 listed stone building adjacent to the village church, the design of the garage/summer room had to be very sympathetic and run in line with all the listed building consent specification. By designing the roof with a very low pitch at the rear, this allowed us to create a large part glazed summer room / gym/ entraining area above the garage. Using the topography of the site enabled us to elevate the rear section giving a large rear oak deck area that is accessed by two oak staircases. This then leads onto the bi-fold doors which when open lets the outside in. Inside the area has a heated floor with an oak overboard, a Sonos sound system and wi-fi connection. Underneath the large Scotch pine trees, clever use of topography allows this new multi-use structure to sit beautifully and sympathetically with the church and the natural environment surrounding it.

Grade II listed project built in the Welland valley

We have just completed extensive refurbishments to a grade II listed stunning home in the Welland valley village of Barrowden. The hand made air dried Oak frame was an essential part of the design allowing us to re-new the families dynamic use of the ground floor.

Contemporary Oak frame design in Alexton

This lovely contemporary pair of oak frame extensions have just been completed in the rural Welland Valley village of Alexton. The standing seamed zinc fascia and roof detail including the simplistic roof atriums lead the approach to the design of these glazed oak extensions. The brief was again natural light, natural materials but with a contemporary/modern edge. The flat roof design was essential for these extensions in both the aesthetic and practical sense and with the new membrane that is now used throughout the flat roofed industry is for all intents and purposes a swimming pool liner that has welded seams and with a 10 year warranty belies all the old worries with a flat roof. The large atrium lights dealt with the need for the loss of light where the new building abutted the existing, using light coloured travertine floor also helped bounce the light into the adjacent rooms. Heating as usual was an underfloor heating system joined to the existing boiler and plumbing.  With modern advances these systems are very easy to install, are very efficient and have very low maintenance. Lighting was our standard spec of internal spots, central pendants and exterior lighting , all of which […]
