Contemporary Multifunctional Outbuilding

Contemporary Oak Framed Extensions This design brief was to create a covered extended double bay garage and workshop with storage above on the 1st floor which is accessed by an internal staircase. To maximise the position and also the potential functions it was opted for a vaulted glazed space that will double up as a gym and summer garden room. This room has air-conditioning plus underfloor heating which will enable it to be used through all seasons. The internal bays that form the majority of the structure are designed to store two large vehicles with the added space for a medium sized workshop area with hand made Oak work benches and shelves to help in the organising of tools and machinery. The lighting externally was positioned to create pools of light to highlight the detail in the oak frame and to also help illuminate the pathway to the rear of the house. The two garage doors were produced by the German door company Horman , each electrically operated with their fobs paired to each door enabling the user to operate each door with the same fob. The colours of the garage doors were ordered to match the aluminium bi-fold doors in dark […]

RUTLAND OAK COTTAGE CONVERSION

The clients brief was for an extension to this beautiful cottage in Whissendine that would allow us to remove some of the internal walls and to recreate the dynamic flow of the house. With the use of the simple materials and good design we were able to create a beautiful space maximising the properties potential. The use of basic material choices kept to a minimum and exposing original brickwork where possible we were able to retain the character of an age old cottage but with the added affect that is created with an open vaulted roof design. The clients were thrilled with the end result and the transformation of their home.

Emerald pool house

This elegant pool and pool house was designed by our team here at natural structures. Understated and beautifully elegant the pool house sits along side the newly built Georgian home perfectly. With the natural materials of the Oak and pale Lime stone tiling , the small emerald inset tiles and the mosaic of the pool is a vivid contrast which creates a central emerald pool surrounded by subdued creams and browns. We are at present designing the exterior pool terrace, this is to have a hot tub sank into Oak decking with boat cushions surrounding it to create a seating area while the semi covered Oak gazebo is to be functional at the covered end with a sink, food preparation area and BBQ while at the far end creating dappled shade and another seating area for the rattan furniture. The double doors from the pool will lead straight into this contained terraced area giving you the ability to easily flow from the swimming area to the sun loungers whether in part shade or full sun and then also to be able to prepare food and drinks in the exterior “kitchen” of the Oak gazebo. The design and function of all the […]

The ultimate home for the ultimate car

This fantastic design was the end result of weeks of collaboration between our designers, the client and the planners. The ancient stone house and its surroundings were grade 11 listed and also in a conservation area so there were a few more hoops to negotiate to ensure a smooth and successful planning application. As the village is very important to England heritage an archaeological survey was needed in the beginning to ensure that we were not disturbing any of the many ancient ruins in and around the area. This was handled by our planning team in conjunction with our ground crew and the local archaeological society all of which were happy with the outcome. The functions incorporated into the design were firstly to house this wonderful super car when it isn’t being raced around the Italian country side, as this was to be the main focal point of the internals the design then was how to form a section of the garage/home to enable occasional use i.e. a day room and small kitchen bar area. This was decided to form the rear part of the large garage/garden room, this gave us 3 functions to the ground floor. The first function being […]
